About
What?
"I believe that the shawl is a hugely underrated fashion accessory that deserves to sparkle in the spotlight. I see it as a personal, multi-tasking canvas. It no longer has to be seen as an afterthought, it can take centre stage."
Tina Sparkle is the brainchild of self-confessed shawl devotee Tina Betz. Disappointed by the poor variety and quality of shawls available, Tina Sparkle was started in 2007 to rectify the gap in the market and bring to attention it's enormous potential.
Tina Sparkle is a fashion label dedicated to the creation of luxury, bespoke, hand-finished shawls that combine cool unique design with the finest and divinest Himalayan cashmere.
How?
Quality and karma is never compromised. Aware of the dubious cashmere exported, Tina went to Kashmir to source the material herself, commissioning the Kaishta's, a lovely, family-owned business to manufacture her designs. The Kaishta's extensive herd of Himalayan Chyangra goats produce the organic thread for each shawl. The cashmere is carefully collected, spun, and woven into stoles before every piece is individually hand-dipped in ecofree dye at their small workshop.
The stoles are 28" by 80" (70cm x 200cm) and are exquisitely soft and warm yet as light as a feather. The fabric is so fine that the stole can pass through a ring!
Where?
Already retailing in the US and debuting in top boutiques such as 'Fred Segal' in Hollywood, and 'Curve' in New York and Beverly Hills (voted 'best clothing shop for women' in LA), Tina Sparkle has built a strong fan base amongst A- List stars including Nicole Richie, Sienna Miller, Keira Knightley, Katie Holmes & Rupert Friend. As distribution in the US continues to expand, Tina Sparkle is now shooting across the pond to star in exclusive boutiques both in the UK and other hotspots across Europe.
Who?
Having studied indigenous religions and cultures at Edinburgh University, and through her work in documentary film, where she has spent time with both the Chamorro people in the South Pacific, and the Navajo Indians of the USA, Tina has always been captivated with encountering new territories and people. Her other passion is fashion. In the design and production of Tina Sparkle shawls she has married the native dyes and techniques of the artisans of Kashmir with the current catwalk fashion trends and colour-ways.
She looks forward to designing new innovative collections, drawing on influences from her travels, whilst striving to create something fresh, modern and dazzling.
